SNZ Endorsed New Zealand
Surf Lessons
If you want your kids to be really safe in the surf,
then a surf school is a great place to start. Once they are competent
swimmers, New Zealand Surf Tours will teach all the fundamentals
of surfing, surf safety and surfing rules.
All our instructors are New Zealand Endorsed Surf Coaches and have
taught kids from all ages. When the surf is no good other activities
include beach games and the water jump. These tours give mum and
dad time out to relax and recharge.
We can specifically design a programme to suit your school requirements.

etc...
Thank you for making this possible, Regards

5 day Learn to Surf Camp
Ideal for kids who really want to
progress with their surfing!
This is the ultimate in surf coaching.
Our instructor will work with the kids every day to ensure their
safety and make sure they are progressing to a good standard so
that they enjoy their surfing.
The kids will be surfing every day in conditions that suit their
ability. Our off road 4x4 wagon will get them on the beach to remote
surfing locations where they can learn to surf in uncrowded, safe
conditions.
Parents are welcome, and this is a great way for the whole family
to learn to surf.
Learning to surf is all about
1) Having access to the right equipment, which
we provide.
2) Finding the waves that best suit your ability.
3) Being given the right instructions and coaching.
Most of the kids are beginners and progress extremely fast. We have
many kids that have been on this trip a number of times and are
now intermediate surfers.
Where do we go?
Our tour heads north for the simple reasons of the sub tropical
water and climate, the remote and unspoiled beaches, and the consistency
of the surf due to the proximity of the 3 coasts (North, East, West).
The surf up around Ahipara is ideal for learning to surf, and there
is always a good wave to learn on somewhere in the area.
Why would you come with us?
Well the groups are small, you will meet
new friends and there is no better way to see the North than through
the eyes of a surfer. You may even get to experience nature at its
best with dolphins and whales cruising our beaches and the vast
marine life at our marine reserves.
Your Guides
Are Surf New Zealand endorsed surf coaches that have extensive local
knowledge this experience allows them to give you a surfing adventure
that you will never forget.
Water Safety
Over the 5 days the students will learn about surfing etiquette
and surf safety.
They will also have a good understanding of:
- Who has the right of way on the wave and
drop ins.
- Rips and how to escape them, identify them,
and use them to your advantage.
- Tides and the effect they have on the waves.
- Different types of waves, beach profiles
and different breaks.
- Different wind condition, offshores, onshores
and costal sea breezes and the effect it has on the surf.
- How to read weather pattens, what causes
the surf and the formation of ocean swells.
Risk Management
NZ Surf Tours has a thorough risk management
plan in every vehicle, which covers the different types of risks;
dangers, risk management strategies and emergency plan procedures.
Our guides all have their Surf NZ level 1 endorsements and subsequently
have their First Aid Cert, National Lifeguard Award and/or Bronze
Medallion awards. They also have a Sports Coaching NZ level one
course.
