Our one day tour is all about a fun safe day at the beach. This includes; surfing, body boarding, swimming, beach games and, if we’re in the right location, you can even take on the challenge of the 10m water jump!

We travel to either coast looking for the best surf conditions. We provide surf lessons for the beginners and have surf boards specifically designed for the new surfer. Our boards are very stable and buoyant making catching and standing on waves a breeze. We carry performance boards for the more experienced surfers, board sizes range from 6’ to 10’.

The day tour caters for everyone from beginners to advanced surfers.

NZD $25 One way trips to the beach. Our main destination is Piha because of the consistency of the waves on the west coast. Jump on board if you’re looking for a ride.

• Operates 7 days a week, pick up and drop off from central city Auckland.
• Pick up times (7:30am, 10am, 12:30pm) depending on the tides. The day is around 7hrs long if we hit the West Coast and 9hrs if we hit the East.

The 5 Day Tour is a surf surfari for beginnners to advanced alike. Our custom tailored surf wagon gets you on the beach to remote locations where you can learn to surf in uncrowded conditions. Our tour takes us to the sub-tropical waters and climate of the winterless North, which offers a variety of waves to suit all abilities.

This trip is much more than a tour, for many it is a life changing experience.

Most of our customers are beginners but many experienced surfers take our trips because we find the best waves to suit all abilities. For the new surfer having good surfers on board is a bonus, by hangin with them it will greatly improve your surfing. The draw back is your vocabulary will change and words like barrels, gnarly, point break, cutty, and others that are not in the dictionary will creep in. It is all part of the experience so not to worry. Our tour heads north for the simple reasons of the sub tropical water and climate, the remote and unspoiled beaches, and the consistency of the surf due to the proximity of the 3 coasts (North, East, West).

• 5 days surfing
• 4 nights accommodation, dormitory style at our very own surf lodge. Ahipara Surf Lodge is right on the beach and has a great learning wave right in front of the house.(Upgrades: Twin $25 per night/per person, Double $50 per night/per couple).
• 3 fresh meals daily. Vegetarians no problem. Lunch on Monday and Friday at your own expense while in transit.

Depending on our location the group has the option to experience any of the local adventure activities New Zealand has to offer. At your own expense.

Daily Itinerary
There are always surprises and last second detours on this trip. Tangaroa and Tawhirimatea, (the gods of the ocean and the elements) ultimately dictate our itinerary. Surfing is all about tide and weather conditions hence the flexible nature of our trip. We base ourselves in Shipwreck bay and head out every day chasing the best waves northland has to offer.

Day 1 - Kia Ora, Welcome. The search begins departing Auckland & heading for the far north. Tonight (Monday) we stay at Shipwreck Bay.
Day 2 - The majority of today’s driving is on the beach taking you to secluded surf locations. Shipwreck Bay accommodation.
Day 3 - Start the day with a surf and breakfast. Then the search begins again. Shipwreck Bay accommodation.
Day 4 - More of day 2 and 3, by evening our surf pilgrimage will bring us home to our shipwreckbay accomadation.
Day 5 - Back to Auckland chasing waves on either coast. We arrive in Auckland late Friday afternoon.

Bonuses: Sunsets, dolphins, whales, wild horses and dune boarding just to name a few.

Leaving from the Heletranz base in Albany you will get a thrilling helicopter ride exploring the city and Waitakere Ranges en-route to Muriwai Beach. We will view the Gannet colony before flying down the coast to meet the New Zealand Surf Tours ground team. Get ready for an afternoon of fun and surfing. Your experienced team are Surf New Zealand endorsed coaches and they will provide help and instruction to ensure that you have a great afternoon.
