Our one day tour is all about a fun safe day at the beach. This includes; surfing, swimming, beach games and if we’re in the right location, you can even take on the challenge of the 10m water jump!

Our day tour caters to everyone from beginners who have already had lessons to advanced surfers. It includes return transport from Auckland plus surfboards and wetsuits. Lessons are not included but it does include supervision. This is perfect for those who are not yet confident to surf alone. We travel to either coast looking for the best surf conditions. We have surfboards specifically designed for the new surfer and also carry performance boards for the more experienced surfers, board sizes range from 6’ to 10’.

NZD $25 One way trips to the beach. Our main destination is Piha because of the consistency of the waves on the west coast. Jump on board if you’re looking for a ride.

• Operates 7 days a week, pick up and drop off from central city Auckland.
• Pick up times, one departure per day depending on the tides (7:30am, 10am or 12:30pm). The day is around 7hrs long if we hit the West Coast and 9hrs if we hit the East.

Learn to surf and discover the real New Zealand!

The 5 Day Tour is a surf surfari for beginners to advanced alike. Our custom tailored surf wagon gets you on the beach to remote locations where you can learn to surf in uncrowded conditions. Our tour takes us to the sub-tropical waters and climate of the winterless North, which offers a variety of waves to suit all abilities.

You will find this trip is not just your average tour for many it is a life changing experience. You will live the life of a surfer “Only a surfer knows the feeling” Quoted by Billabong. Most of our customers are beginners but many experienced surfers take our trips because we find the best waves to suit all abilities. For the new surfer having good surfers on board is a bonus, by hangin with them it will greatly improve your surfing. The drawback is your vocabulary will change and words like pits, gnarly, point break, going off! It is all part of the experience so not to worry. Our tour heads north for the simple reasons of the sub tropical water and climate, the remote and unspoiled beaches, and the consistency of the surf due to the proximity of the 3 coasts (North, East and West).

Product Detail - 5 Day Tour

We provide

• 5 days surfing
• 4 night's accommodation, dormitory style at Ahipara Surf Lodge (bedding provided). Upgrades available: Twin $25 per night/per person, Double $50 per night/per room.
• 3 fresh meals daily, yummy sunset BBQ's. Vegetarians no problem. (Lunch on Monday and Friday while in transit is at your own expense).
• All transportation. Pick up and drop off from central city Auckland.
• Surfboards, wetsuits, and accessories. Body boards (by request).
• Daily Surf Lessons (we are normally in the water for 2 hours per surf).
• Surf safety, learn about rips, holes and undertows, how to identify them, escape them and use them to your advantage. You will also learn the difference between offshore and onshore winds, afternoon sea breezes, tides, and surfing rules.
• Beach activities.

Your Guides
All our guides are internationally recoginsed ISA surf coaches and they hold a minimum level 1 endorsement. They have been trained in surf safety hold current first aid certificates for your safety.

Adventure Activities
Ahipara is an adventure playground! You can swim, walk along the beach, play golf, go fishing, go mountain biking, sand boarding or take a quad bike tour. To be honest surfing twice a day will burn you out. If you have the energy or want to take a day out from surfing there are plenty of options.

Daily Itinerary
There are always surprises and last second detours on this trip. Tangaroa and Tawhirimatea, (the gods of the ocean and the elements) ultimately dictate our itinerary. Surfing is all about tide and weather conditions hence the flexible nature of our trip. We base ourselves at Shipwreck Bay and head out every day chasing the best waves northland has to offer.

Day 1 - Kia Ora, Welcome. The search begins departing Auckland we head to the far north (Ahipara Surf Lodge). Today we have 1 surf.
Day 2 - We will find the best waves in northland. This could mean driving on the beach to get you to secluded surf locations. 2 surfs today.
Day 3 -We either surf in front of the lodge on the west coast or take a short drive to the east coast. Surf 2 coasts in one day!
Day 4 - More of day 2 & 3. By evening our surf pilgrimage will bring us back to Ahipara Surf Lodge for our fianl night. 2 surfs today.
Day 5 - Back to Auckland chasing waves on either coast. We arrive in Auckland late Friday afternoon. 1 surf today.

Bonuses: Sunsets, dolphins, whales, wild horses, perfect waves just to name a few.

General Information

• Tours depart Auckland every Monday from Oct to May.
• We are limited to 10 seats and most trips book out so please book early! First come first served.
• Departure time on Monday is 10am from under the Big Boat in the Viaduct Habour. You will be sent a map when booking.
• Return time on Friday is normally around 5pm.
• Most of our customers are aged between 20 & 35. The minimum age is 16 and all customers under 18 years of age must complete a Student Registration Form and a Conditions of Booking Form .They can then either be faxed, emailed or posted back to us.

12 Day Learn to Surf Surfari (Departs every Monday and returns Friday from October to May)
Learn to surf and discover the real New Zealand!

The 12 Day Tour is essentially an extension of our 5 day surf tour. We've had so many people do back to back tours and comment that they would like to stay longer! Now you can save money, stay longer and develop your surfing skills.

How does it work?

You join our normal 5 day tour departing Monday and instead of coming back on Friday you have 2 free days (Saturday and Sunday) at Ahipara Surf Lodge. You will then meet up with another 5 day tour on Monday and return the following Friday. On Saturday and Sunday you can surf in front of the lodge or take a day or two from surfing and enjoy the comforts of home. Food is provided and you are free to cook up what ever you like.

Most of our customers are aged between 20 & 35. The minimum age for this tour is18 years as you may have the lodge to yourself during your free 2 days (Sat & Sun).

Leaving from the Heletranz base in Albany you will get a thrilling helicopter ride exploring the city and Waitakere Ranges en-route to Muriwai Beach. We will view the Gannet colony before flying down the coast to meet the N Z Surf 'n' Snow Tours ground team. Get ready for an afternoon of fun and surfing. Your experienced team will provide surf lessons, surfboards wetsuits and didgital photo's of the day. We can organize a bbq, drinks or even visit the hot pools on the way home.
